The Tax Department assures validity of assessed values of taxable property and collects taxes, assesses real and personal property and vehicles, and conducts revaluation of real property. This department also assists with Homestead exemptions, provides listing and discovery services for businesses, assists nonprofits with exemptions, and issues mobile home moving permits and beer, wine, and fortune-telling permits.2022-2023 Workload Measures

Collection Goals
1) To continue efficient collection, the Tax Dept. will maintain an average of 1 out-ofbalanceevents or less per month, not counting amounts less than $1.00.
2) To continue efficient collection, the Tax Dept. will perform an average of 225 enforced collections per month.
Appraisals Goals
3) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will audit 1/8 of all parcels receiving PUVdeferment.
4) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will review 1/8 of all parcels each year.
Land Records Goals
5) To ensure productivity, the Tax Dept. will perform an average of 500 deedtransfers per month (limited by the volume of deeds recorded).
6) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will maintain an average of 95% accuracy indeed transfer.
Business Listing Goals
7) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will maintain an average of 2 errors or lessper month.
8) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will audit an average of 30 business permonth, which includes desk audits.
Personal Property Goals
9) To ensure accuracy, the Tax Dept. will audit at least 1/8 of homesteadexemptions.
