Inspections administers and enforces NC technical codes. It also receives and processes permit applications and issues orders to correct violations.
The primary function of the Department is to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Alamance County through the enforcement of the North Carolina State Building Code and local ordinances.

1) Inspections will train 2 additional inspectors on residential plan review.
2) Inspections will review central permitting and have 2 meetings a year with other departments to reviewCentral Permitting software.
3) To promptly respond to customers’ needs, 98% of inspections will be performed within 24 hours of arequest.
4) To promptly respond to customers’ needs, Inspections will maintain an average turnaround onconstruction plan reviews for residential buildings at 3 days or less (approval given or comments sent).
5) To stay current on inspection procedures and practices, Inspectors will maintain their certifications byattending required continuing education classes.
6) Inspections will minimize workplace related injuries, illness, and vehicle accidents, with a goal of zeropermanent disabilities or fatalities, by means of ongoing safety training and reminders.
